KITCHENER, Ont. – (December 17, 2015) – Christie® has donated $10,000 worth of gifts to the Family & Children’s Services of the Waterloo Region Holiday Support Program in lieu of having a staff and children’s Christmas party this December.
Employees at Christie’s Canadian headquarters in Kitchener pitched in and shopped for children and families in the Waterloo region as part of its “Deck the Halls” holiday celebration. Employees were divided into 20 teams, with each team responsible for purchasing $500 worth of gifts for one of four age groups, ranging from newborns to adults. Donated gifts include toys, games and craft supplies; children’s snowsuits, mittens, boots and clothing; diapers, a high chair and playpen; bedding, cleaning supplies and personal hygiene products; and gift cards.
The Holiday Support Program provides Christmas gifts, essential household items and food cards to families and youth in need by matching donors with families and youth involved with the Family & Children’s Services of the Waterloo Region.
“The holidays can be very challenging for many of the families we serve and this kind of support from our caring community makes the holiday season brighter,” stated Alison Scott, Executive Director, Family & Children’s Services. “Christie is a true community champion in assisting so many local families through this very generous donation.”
“We’re proud to be a part of this initiative,” said Gerry Remers, president and COO, Christie Canada. “As a company, it’s important for us to contribute to the local community in a meaningful way. I can’t think of a better way than sharing the spirit of the season with families and children in need.”
Christie presented the gifts to Family & Children’s Services on December 16 at Christie’s Canadian headquarters in Kitchener.
