As part of
its mission to promote community organizations, AmpliVox
Sound Systems has
partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago to provide top-quality
AmpliVox megaphones for club programs and activities. AmpliVox donated 10 of
its S602R Mity-Meg rechargeable megaphones
to the James Jordan Boys & Girls Club which will be put to use in clubs
around the city for sports, social events, and other activities.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago seek to enable all young people to
reach their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.
Serving many of the most disadvantaged neighborhoods in the city, the 18 club
locations provide programs in five key areas: Character & Leadership,
Education & Career, Health & Life Skills, Arts, and Fitness &
Sports. Over 8000 children participate in club activities every year, a majority
of whom come from single-parent households and families with annual incomes
below $32,000. For these children, Boys & Girls Clubs provide a safe haven,
support for personal development, and opportunities for future success.
The Mity-Meg
portable sound systems donated by AmpliVox deliver 25 watts of amplification,
providing sound coverage of up to one mile. Constructed of weatherproof
high-impact plastic and steel, the Mity-Meg can be used indoors or outdoors for
all types of events. The rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery pack provides eight
hours of active use, and holds its charge for over a year when idle. AmpliVox’s
exclusive power indicator light tells the user how much power is left, and
integrated siren/whistle functions increase its versatility.
Jill Reid, Interim
Vice President of External Affairs for the Boys & Girls Clubs, appreciates
the usefulness of the AmpliVox donation. “The megaphones will be used by our Club
Staff as they ramp up afterschool sports and activities this fall,” notes Reid.
“On basketball courts, outside playing soccer and at the swimming pools working
on laps – the kids will benefit from this generous donation to the Clubs.”
“AmpliVox is
proud to provide our megaphone products to the Boys & Girls Clubs,” noted
Don Roth, AmpliVox CEO. “The Clubs are essential to the lives of so many young
people in the community, and we are excited to see our megaphones enhancing
their experience. We know that our donation will provide excellent sound
support at Boys & Girls Club events for years to come.”

About Boys &
Girls Clubs of Chicago
Serving Chicago families since 1902, Boys & Girls Clubs
of Chicago (BGCC) uses a comprehensive blend of mentoring and programming to
provide youth ages 6 to 18 the tools they need to become well-rounded and
successful adults. A home away from home during the after-school hours, which
can be the most dangerous for young people, BGCC offers academic, social, and
leadership activities for students in some of Chicago’s most challenging
neighborhoods. We match youth with professional adult mentors, giving kids a
safe place to learn, grow, and succeed. Learn more at http://www.bgcc.org and follow BGCC on Twitter @bgcc.org.
