Presentation to Focus on the Art of Innovation in Today’s Fast-Evolving Business Landscape
KITCHENER, Ont. – (March 13, 2014) – Christie®, a world leader in visual display technology, is pleased to announce that Dr. Paul Salvini, its Chief Technology Officer, will be a guest speaker on March 15 at this year’s TEDxUW 2014, to be held by the University of Waterloo at the Tannery Event Centre in downtown Kitchener. Dr. Salvini, a renowned expert on the topic of innovation in technology and business, will speak on the need for businesses to be “more innovative in where they innovate” because of today fast-evolving technology landscape. And in doing so, he will challenge preconceived notions.
“The best businesses innovate in as many ways as they can – both within their core and beyond. If you are a technology company, there will be an inherent bias to think that innovation means technological innovation. Surely as a technology company the most important thing you can do is have innovative technology, right? Surely the best technology always wins, right? Of course not!” according to Salvini.
Weaving together a passion for business, technology and visual art, Dr. Salvini serves as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Christie Digital Systems Canada and Adjunct Professor in the Graduate School of Computer Science at the University of Toronto. Among his numerous accomplishments, he led a three-time Academy Award™ winning team of mathematicians and software developers in the development of leading edge visual effects software for the film industry. In 2007, he was also a recipient of "Canada’s Top 40 Under 40” leadership award.
Dr. Salvini holds an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Applied Science, PhD and MBA from the University of Toronto.
