MELBOURNE, FL/DENVER, September, 2011 (Radio Show - Booth 201) — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, introduces more IP networking capabilities to its Intraplex® HD Link™ studio-to-transmitter link (STL) system heading into the 2011 Radio Show (Hyatt Regency Chicago, September 14-16).

Harris introduced HD Link in 2009 to support 950 MHz microwave STL applications for the transport of analog AM/FM and digital program services, including HD Radio™ broadcasting and multicasting. Harris will show HD Link at the 2011 Radio Show, along with a 10kW model from its recently-introduced Flexiva™ air-cooled, solid-state transmitter family, and a range of PR&E® studio systems and consoles for standalone and networked studio environments.

Harris now offers tighter integration between RF and IP capabilities, giving broadcasters more flexibility in program transport. Broadcasters can configure HD Link to operate as both an RF and an IP STL, and designate either transport medium as the primary service path for any stream. Broadcasters can also switch between the two methods for any service, or concurrently send the same program across both paths — minimizing service interruptions in the event of failure.

Other new features include dynamic audio parameter adjustments to cope with link degradation caused by inclement weather or other interference. This includes automatic switching between stereo and mono, or dropping auxiliary programs to ensure that the main program stays on the air.

Flexiva radio broadcast transmitters support analog and global digital standards, including FM, FM+HD Radio, HD Radio-only and DRM+ digital broadcasting. Available in power levels up to 20kW, Flexiva transmitters leverage Harris® PowerSmart® technology to create a compact, cost-efficient transmission solution with high power density and low operating costs.

PR&E studio systems on display at the 2011 Radio Show will include the Oasis™ on-air console, enabled for Harris PR&E VistaMax™ network operation and configured with both analog and digital audio interfaces. Harris will also show its VMReact™ 1RU logic processing device. VMReact is the latest in a suite of cost-efficient, user-friendly PR&E VistaMax solutions for localizing networked audio in each studio instead of having to depend on a central rack room.

In broadcast communications, Harris offers products, systems and services that provide interoperable workflow solutions for broadcast, cable, satellite and out-of-home networks. The Harris ONE™ solution brings together highly integrated and cost-effective products that enable advanced media workflows for emerging content delivery business models.
