In
observance of Black History Month, the Northbrook Community Relations
Commission sponsored a free public event on February 21 at the North Suburban
YMCA featuring the Jackie Robinson West Little League Team. Over 300 guests,
many of them children in baseball jerseys, gathered in the Y’s large gymnasium
to share in an informal lunch and a Q&A session with JRW players. To make
sure that all the participants could hear and enjoy the full presentation, planners
turned to locally-based AmpliVox Sound Systems for audio equipment to meet the
demands of this unique event.
AmpliVox
provided technical support as well as equipment to enable multiple JRW players
to participate in the Q&A. The company supplied six of its 16-channel S1623
Wireless Handheld Mic Kits, which were then managed through an eight-channel
mixer. The wireless mics were used by the event’s emcee, JRW players, and
audience members during the Q&A period. Presenters also had access to an
AmpliVox SW505 Executive Column Lectern with a sensitive gooseneck mic. All the
audio elements, including a multimedia presentation on Jackie Robinson’s
legacy, were projected through AmpliVox’s SW815 Digital Audio Travel Partner
portable PA system and SW1297 Wireless Companion Battery Powered Speaker. The
combined coverage provided consistent, clear sound to the entire event space,
even with a large of crowd of excited youngsters.
“AmpliVox
really came through for us to make the Black History Month celebration
successful,” said Howard Schultz, Executive Director/CEO of the North Suburban
YMCA. “It was vitally important that all our guests could hear the
presentations and participate in the dialogue. We rely on AmpliVox audio
equipment for all kinds of events here at the Y, and we appreciate the extra
efforts they made to meet our needs in this situation.”
