– Belden (NYSE: BDC), a world leader in the development of signal transmission products for the enterprise, industrial, data center, building management, broadcast and security markets, has introduced a new, state-of-the-art Cable Management Configurator. This powerful software tool allows its users to quickly specify error-free enclosure/rack systems. For written information about the Configurator, ask for Capabilities Bulletin # CB 005 by contacting Belden, P.O. Box 1980, Richmond, Indiana 47375, 1.800.BELDEN.1. FAX: 765.983.5294. Sending All the Right Signals – from industrial automation to data centers, from broadcast studios to aerospace, from cutting-edge wireless communications to consumer electronics, Belden people are committed to delivering the best signal transmission solutions in the world. Our associates worldwide work in copper cable, fiber, wireless technology, connectors, switches and active components to bring voice, video and data to your mission-critical application. With 2007 revenue of $2.0 billion, Belden has manufacturing capability in North America, Europe and Asia.
The new Configurator has been designed to meet the needs of four user groups: distributors of Belden products, consultants who are involved in specifying purchases for a project, system integrators/contractors, and end-users. The tool enables users to build enclosure systems that meet their specific requirements. Users will be able to build a complete configuration (often in less than 10 minutes), having the confidence that all components selected will work together. They can also view and download CAD drawings, access and download relevant spec sheets, drawings and pictures, request a quote and create a template that makes it easy to create multiple orders.
In addition, Belden Distributors can browse through a Belden product catalog and build a quote containing a mix of configurable enclosures, accessories and options. They can generate a quote document in PDF format under their own logo for printing, faxing or emailing to prospective customers. They can also convert a quote to a sales order for submission to Belden.
Belden’s Configurator was designed to be a highly functional, responsive and easy-to-use tool for day-to-day operations. It simplifies choices in what can otherwise be a complex and lengthy decision and ordering process. Its logical user-interface and division of access modes, based on user experience or intent, make it faster than other enclosure configurators now on the market. Other configurators are often cumbersome, slow applications entailing large, executable files that
must be downloaded to a users’ computer. The Belden Configurator will not require memory allocation inside the user’s computer. It runs directly off Belden’s powerful server.
In addition, the Belden Configurator is visually-oriented to make it even more effective and user-friendly. The system’s convenient user interface includes screen zones for user interaction, visualization, information, and summary. Users can select the system’s parametric 2D CAD interface, which will depict elevation, top and side views of the configured enclosure. Configuration files are archived on Belden’s secure server and users have their own password-protected area within the server. They can store their templates and final configurations and access them at any time for easy updating.
All users of the new Configurator will benefit from access to Belden’s portfolio of industry-leading cable management products. For example, they’ll be able to choose from Belden’s extended offering of free-standing enclosures, wall-mount enclosures and open rack systems for use in computer rooms, data centers, telecom closets, security, broadcasting and A/V applications. And they’ll be able to select from a range of options and accessories, including cable managers, doors, filler panels, tops, shelves, cooling items, power distribution units, and more.
