New Design Offers Compact, Energy-Efficient Test and Measurement Solution for Today's DTV Signal Formats
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, September 10, 2009 (IBC2009, Stand 7.G20) — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has introduced the new Videotek® Compact Monitor Series for testing signal integrity across all DTV broadcast signal formats up to 3 Gb/s — in a half-rack, energy-saving design. At less than seven inches deep, the Compact Monitor is well-suited for today's space-conscious, flat-panel broadcast and production environments.
The Compact Monitor Series includes the CMN-41, a rasterizer that requires an external monitor; and the CMN-91, a multiformat signal analyzer with a built-in LCD display. Both models can be used in portable or rackmount configurations, with the CMN-91 ideal for field and mobile video production thanks to options such as a portable case and mounting brackets for the industry's most popular lithium ion batteries.
The Compact Monitor Series offers the broadcast industry's first ultra-compact monitors to view waveforms of composite or tri-level external sync references to verify signal integrity. Both models are available in three upgradable versions — SD, HD/SD, and 3 Gb/s HD/SD — with two active-looping SDI inputs and metering of 16 embedded audio channels or one AES audio input. The CMN-91 also features a diagonal transflective color TFT display (4.41 cm x 21.49 cm x 17.73 cm) that lets operators independently position and scale waveform, vector, and thumbnail pictures anywhere on the screen.
"Broadcasters and systems integrators today require monitoring devices that fit technically and ergonomically with flat-panel displays and monitor walls, and our Videotek team has responded with a new compact product series that is compatible with modern digital studio and mobile truck installations," said Tim Thorsteinson, president, Harris Broadcast Communications. "Customer feedback has been instrumental to the design of this series."
C2009 also marks the international debut of the Videotek TVM-4MA metadata analyzer. The TVM-4MA is designed for any media facility that needs to verify data presence and confirm detailed data content, integrating a toolset to discover, report, monitor and trigger alarms related to ancillary data present in an HD or SD-SDI signal. It is the first analyzer on the market to provide a comprehensive list of all ancillary and vertical blanking interval (VBI) data present in an SDI video signal.
